The Brooklyn Children’s Museum is honoring the Month of the Military Child this April by offering free admission to all military families through a partnership with Blue Star Families, an organization founded in 2009 by military spouses to support military families.
Throughout the month, military families can enjoy complimentary access to the museum's interactive exhibits and special programs aimed at fostering children’s social, emotional and physical development, according to a press release. Military families can receive free entry for up to five members by presenting a valid military ID at admission.
During April, the museum will also offer the following special events and programs:
-
Earth Rocks! Spring Break Festival (April 13–19): During New York City’s DOE Spring Recess, visitors can engage in hands-on activities, including meeting live tarantulas, building food-powered batteries, potting gardens and creating art from recycled materials. Additional activities include animal encounters, yoga sessions and healthy eating workshops.
-
All Month in BCM’s ColorLab Art Studio: Inspired by artist Beverly Buchanan, families can create Earth Home sculptures using clay, sticks and natural materials to explore themes of home and history.
-
All Month in BCM’s Nature’s Engineers STEM MakerSpace: Children can learn about batteries, circuits, and electrochemistry by building their own food-powered battery.
