The Brooklyn Botanic Garden has launched its CherryWatch for the 2025 season.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden (BBG) launched CherryWatch for the 2025 season, an interactive map that tracks the progression of its celebrated cherry blossoms.

The tool provides daily updates on more than 150 cherry trees, allowing visitors to monitor their bloom status and plan visits to experience the display at its peak, according to a press release.

BBG’s century-old flowering cherry collection, one of the most renowned outside of Japan, features more than 30 species and cultivars. These trees can be found throughout the garden, including in the Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden, on Cherry Esplanade, Cherry Walk and in the Bonsai Museum.

To celebrate the fleeting beauty of cherry blossom season, BBG will host a variety of events in April and May. Hanami Nights and Weekends in Bloom will offer live music, dance performances and specialty food and drink, blending Japanese cultural traditions with a contemporary Brooklyn flair.

Beyond cherry blossoms, BBG’s spring season includes a cascade of other blooms. Visitors can expect magnolias and daffodils in late March and early April, followed by bluebells and tree peonies in May.

The Osborne Garden will also feature wisteria, crabapples, irises, and azaleas during the season. Later in the spring, the Cranford Rose Garden’s thousands of roses will bloom, along with a newly expanded collection of irises on Fawcett Terrace.

BBG’s programming extends into summer and fall, with new and returning events. In June, the garden will celebrate the 100th anniversary of its bonsai collection, which includes trees over a century old. Summer performances will include sunrise and sunset Solstice events, Jazz in July on Thursday evenings and an evening Soundbath event.
