Brooklyn Community Foundation held its "Invest in Brooklyn Dinner," Friday, at the Weylin in Williamsburg, with featured speaker Stacey Abrams, in discussion with award-winning journalist Elaine Welteroth.
Abrams and Welteroth shared with 300 guest an electric conversation on democracy, representation and the urgent need for a fair count in the upcoming U.S. Census, with pointers on how we as voters can influence issues we see on the national stage right here in the borough.
"If we erase people from the narrative of who we are, we erase them from the future of our country," said Abrams.
The evening's vegan menus was deliciously catered by BCF's Immigrant Rights Fund grantee Emma's Torch with wine generously donated by Diane and Joseph Steinberg and beer provided by Sixpoint Brewery.
