New York City Housing Authority's (NYCHA) Office of Resident Economic Empowerment & Sustainability (REES) announces a first-time homebuyer education workshop series around the five boroughs kicking off today, Thursday, August 13, through December 3, 2015.
Seven workshops will be hosted in conjunction with local partners who offer free and low-cost HUD-certified homebuyer education workshops, homeownership counseling, and foreclosure prevention services. Borough-specific workshops are open to residents citywide.
Participants will gain skills on qualifying for a mortgage; working with a realtor, lawyer and home inspector; and budgeting and managing expenses in preparation to buy a home. The workshops form part of a greater homeownership initiative REES launched in 2015.
