Lemonade Day, a national youth entrepreneurship program designed to help kids become business leaders and social advocates, returns for the third year to Brooklyn on Saturday, July 27
The event, hosted in partnership with the Central Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation (CBEDC) and Be That Kid Foundation, will welcome 30 young business owners to launch their own lemonade stands during the annual Old Timers Day at the Brownsville Recreation Center.
All entrepreneurs are part CBEDC's Youth Entrepreneurship Program, also known as SONYC-Biz, a six-week business summer camp program.
The program, funded by the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development and Council Member Alicka Ampry-Samuel, walks youth from a dream to a business plan while teaching them the same principles required to start any company. The camp Inspires kids to work hard and make a profit, they are also taught to spend some, save some and share some by giving back to their community. And Lemonade Day offers them an opportunity to put those experience and skills to use.
"Brooklyn Lemonade Day provides an amazing platform for CBEDC's Youth Entrepreneurship program," said CBEDC Executive Director, La'Shawn Allen. "We are honored to be a partner."
Brooklynites can support the young entrepreneurs this Saturday, from 12:00pm and 6:00pm, at the Brownsville Recreation Center by sipping on some good, old lemonade!
