A New York City Department of Education employee was arrested Thursday, accused of assaulting a 13-year-old student, according to sources. Elvin Ventura, 53, was taken into custody at a local Brooklyn precinct, according to the NYPD. Ventura is charged with strangulation in the second degree, criminal construction of breathing, endangering the welfare of a child, assault in the third degree, and harassment in the second degree, police said.
