Writers of Caribbean heritage and descent are encouraged to submit to the Brooklyn Caribbean Literary Festival's (BCLF) Short Story Contest. The two contests, the Caribbean-American Writer’s Prize and Award for Writers in the Caribbean, are open to any writers over the age of 18.

Both winners will receive a $1,750 cash prize; Cafe Con Libros gift card; caché of books courtesy Akashic Books; and BCLF branded merchandise, according to a news release.

The authors will also be profiled on the BCLF website; given a feature episode on the acclaimed BCLF Cocoapod and will see their work published in The Brooklyn Rail.

The deadline for submission of stories is July 1 at 11:59pm EST.
