FAD market, the curated pop-up, connects the public with emerging and mid-career artists and designers from all backgrounds and mediums, to meet, interact and to discover the art and culture within the community
FAD Market, the roving fashion, art and design pop-up marketplace that travels seasonally to unique venues throughout the borough is taking up its fall residence on October 21 and 23 at City Point in downtown Brooklyn.
The curated market connects the public with emerging and mid-career artists and designers from all backgrounds and mediums, to meet, interact, and together, discover the art and culture within our community. This season, the market offers an impressive lineup of over 50 independent designer makers showcasing unique handcrafted art, jewelry, apparel, bath and body care, tableware and home furnishings.
Launched in May 2016, FAD Market kicked off with a spring pop-up at Issue Project Room, an experimental art and performance center. Encouraged by the success of the inaugural fair, team FAD forged ahead, celebrating summer, fall and the holidays with three more season-long public markets.
On Saturday, October 22 and Sunday, October 23, FAD will host its "Celebrate Art" event and partner with the Invisible Dog Art Center to co-present "Wood and Wool," a solo exhibition showcasing Abraham McNally. The site-specific installation by the notable Brooklyn-based artist opens conversations between past, present and place. The exhibition features some of McNally's most recent work which he created this summer while visiting his childhood home in Northern Vermont.
For younger art lovers the Paris-based creative studio OMY will create a giant coloring wall installation which will offer children a chance to unleash their inner artists. Grab a marker to be a part of a community effort to create a full wall mural over the weekend!
