Brooklyn Org will mark its first annual Brooklyn Org Volunteer Day on Saturday, April 13.
The nonprofit, along with various community partners across the borough, will host seven different family-friendly volunteer sites throughout the day.
The Brooklyn projects include:
Food distribution with Mixteca
- Beginning at 9:15 am, for ages 12 and up, volunteers will be tasked with helping Mixteca to distribute fresh fruits and vegetables to our community members.
Community cleanup with Kavi
- Beginning at 11:00 am, for ages 10 and up, volunteers will pick up trash and help with the beautification project at Wyckoff Community Center.
Urban farming with Wyckoff House Museum
- Beginning at 11:00 am, for ages 5 and up, volunteers will help process food scraps and compost and get ready for spring with a general garden clean up.
Sort recycling with Sure We Can
- Beginning at noon, for all ages, volunteers will learn from Sure We Can staff and community members about the day-to-day work of bottle and can collecting and sorting.
Serve at CHiPS Soup Kitchen
- Beginning at 12:15 pm, for ages 12 and up, volunteers will be asked to bake at home or buy hearty snacks and bring them to serve at the CHiPS treat stand.
Beautification of Bensonhurst Park with United Chinese Association of Brooklyn
- Beginning at 12:30 pm, for all ages, volunteers will pitch in to clean up a beloved neighborhood green space.
Clean up a ball field with Brooklyn Little League
- Beginning at 1 pm, for ages 8 and up, volunteers will help revitalize their field at St. John’s Park for the start of the season.
