A vandal wanted for slashing the tires of several NYPD vehicles at the 112th precinct in Queens was arrested on Sunday after returning to report his own car stolen, according to the Daily News.

The 74-year-old suspect, Jose Patino, from Bushwick, Brooklyn, was taken into custody by police while wearing the same clothes he wore two days prior when the slashing incidents occurred.

Authorities say at around 7:00am, Patino punctured one tire each on seven police vehicles, three of which were unmarked. He fled the scene in a beige car wearing a brown hat, multi-colored jacket and black pants, according to police.

Two days later, when Patino returned to the station to report his stolen vehicle, police were able to identify him through surveillance video tapes.

He was questioned by officers and later confessed to committing the slashings. Patino was charged with criminal mischief.

Authorities say he has no prior arrest record, and the intent behind the slashings are unknown.
