BRIC announced the launch of its first-ever Film Festival, themed Bold, Beautiful, Brooklyn.

The festival will take place on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at BRIC House and is free and open to the public. The festival marks the relaunch of Stoop Share, BRIC’s signature platform designed to amplify diverse creative voices across the borough, according to a press release.

BRIC President Wes Jackson said the festival’s mission is to provide an accessible platform for New Yorkers to display their creativity.

“The relaunch of Stoop Share is BRIC’s way of offering accessible spaces for performance, creativity, and storytelling in a city where affordable space is a diminishing commodity," said Jackson. "We are proud to highlight the work of our community producers and emerging artists through the BRIC Film Festival, our first program as part of this relaunch.”

The festival will feature short documentary films that explore themes of humanity, race, existence, humor and societal perspectives, all using Brooklyn as their creative backdrop.

Among the featured works is I Too Sing America, created by students at Cyber Arts Academy in partnership with BRIC, and Dolla Van, a scripted pilot from filmmaker Gabriel Tolliver, which has garnered recognition at the 2023 American Black Film Festival and the Caribbean Lens International Film & Art Festival.
