Brooklyn Sees Slight Crime Decrease in June Amid Rising Gun Violence, Rape, and Robbery Rates

Rape increased in the Brooklyn South and Brooklyn North patrols.

Violent crime in Brooklyn was down slightly during the month of June, according to the most recent police data, but the borough still saw a significant number of shootings and sexual assaults. The overall rate of major felonies — rape, murder, robbery, felony assault, burglary, grand larceny, and grand larceny auto — dropped by about 4% during the 28-day period from June 3-28, in comparison to the same span last year. A total of 2,507 incidents were reported during that time, down from 2,615 in 2023. Click here to read more on brooklynpaper.com.
