A trio of progressive groups are rolling out an early endorsement Friday for Samy Nemir Olivares, an upstart candidate hoping to unseat Brooklyn Assemblyman Erik Dilan.
Make the Road Action, CUFFH Action, and New York Communities for Change members are backing Nemir Olivares, a local district leader who was endorsed earlier in the week by the New York City Democratic Socialists of America.
Nemir Olivares is mounting a primary challenge against Dilan, an incumbent Democrat who previously served in the City Council and comes from political stock. Dilanâs father, Martin Dilan, lost his state Senate seat to Sen. Julia Salazar (D-Brooklyn) in 2018.
