This Thursday night, Prospect Park is the place to be with the legendary Roots Crew lighting up the bandshell.

The Roots, which have become one of the best known and most respected hip-hop acts in the business, will be playing a benefit concert at 7:00pm on Thursday, Aug 12.

The GRAMMY winning group has been named one of the greatest live bands around by Rolling Stone and serves as the official house band on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Recently, Black Thought and Questlove have been the executive producers of the acclaimed documentary series "Hip-Hop: The Songs That Shook America" on AMC.

Felicia Temple will join as an opening act.

The concert is part of BRIC's Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival, which is running through September bringing a number of live performances to the borough. All of the acts are free, aside from a small number of ticketed benefit concerts — which includes The Roots show. For show tickets, click here.
