Are you ready for some spooky, slimy, scream-worthy Halloween fun, Brooklyn?

Sure, there's plenty of candy to be had on Thursday, Oct. 31 when kids walk around their neighborhoods to go trick-or-treating. But everyone knows it's all about the community parties and parades, where Brooklynites young and old hang outside to laugh and be merry amid ghouls and goblins.

So get your glue guns out, Brooklyn! There's plenty of places to show off your most creative costume. 

Saturday, Oct. 26

Great PUPkin Dog Costume Contest in Fort Greene Park, 12:00pm to 1:30pm

Free for spectators | $20 to register dog contestants

In its 26th year, the Great PUPkin Dog Costume Contest is Brooklyn’s largest and longest-running dog competition! The event will take place at the bottom of the Monument Stairs. As always, the show is free to watch! Then directly proceed to Fort Greene Park’s Halloween Fest, from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.

McGolrick Dogs Halloween Parade and Costume Contest, 12:00pm to 4:00pm

Head to Greenpoint for the annual McGolrick Dogs Halloween Parade and Costume Contest. To participate, you and your pup should meet at the pavilion at McGorlick Park at 12:00pm, as the parade starts at 12:15pm. The costume contest will follow. 

Treats on the Trails at Shirley Chisholm State Park, 1:00pm to 4:00pm

The Halloween event along the trails is on the Penn side of the park and extends down Hendrix Creek Road. Participate in crafts, play games, learn about the park and collect goodies along the way.This event will also feature free button-making, a kids’ bike raffle and a photo booth. The Boo-Cycle Tour (a Halloween-themed bike ride) starts at the Penn Bike Library at 1:00pm and 3:00pm. Register here for the bike tour.

Pumpkin Festival at East New York Farms, 9:00am to 3:00pm

Head to the East New York Farmers’ Market for their annual pumpkin festival, which will include pumpkin carving, face painting, a costume contest, performances by Mazarte Dance Company and a free fire cider workshop on the farm. There will also be live music all day long. Attendees are invited to bring photos and memories of loved ones who have passed to add to a Dia de los Muertos altar on the farm. 

Children’s Halloween Festival and Parade in Coney Island, 11:00am to 2:00pm

The 14th Annual Children’s Halloween Festival and Parade, hosted by the Alliance for Coney Island, will occur at the Coney Island Amphitheater. The first 1,200 children will receive a goodie bag and wristband to Luna Park in Coney Island to enjoy the rides after the parade. All children must arrive in costume and will automatically be enrolled into the costume contest. 

Kids Fall Spooktacular at the Wyckoff House Museum, 12:00pm to 3:00pm

Families and kids can celebrate Halloween outdoors with a visit to the Wyckoff Farmhouse park. There will be a live DJ, a pumpkin patch, Halloween crafts and games, a spooky house and prizes for kids and adult costumes.

BKLYN BOO! at Albee Square, 12:00pm to 3:00pm

Albee Square in Downtown Brooklyn will a have its family-friendly Halloween fest with a puppet slam, a make-your-own slime station and dancing with music spun by DJ Mike.

Bay Ridge Halloween Festival, 3:00pm to 7:00pm

The Halloween Festival on 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge will be where you can decorate a pumpkin, enjoy a bouncy house, listen to music and trick-or-treat. Ten blocks will be car-free on 5th Avenue from 72nd to 85th Street. There will also be haunted truck!

Sunday, Oct. 27

¡CalabazaFest! 2024 at Maria Hernandez Park, 11:00am to 4:00pm

The 14th annual ¡CalabazaFest!, the colorful, outdoor, cross-cultural, family-friendly, fun and free costume party will celebrate the Day of the Dead, Halloween and harvest festival traditions. The event features includes live music, mariachi and dance performances, pumpkin carving and a creative costume contest that begins at 2:00pm.

Halloween Costume Contest and Mini-Parade at the Old Stone House, 2:00pm to 4:00pm

Younger children in Park Slope love this annual Halloween Costume Contest. Awards will be given in the categories of: Best use of Stroller/Wagon, Scariest, Best Group/Family/Ensemble, Best Infant, Best Pop Culture, Best Classic Halloween, Most Creative, and Best use of Recycled/Green Materials. After the contest, all participants parade around Washington Park. 

Halloween Parade at the Columbia Waterfront District10:00am to 12:00pm

The Urban Meadow Garden group will hold its Annual Halloween Party and Parade through the Columbia Waterfront Neighborhood. The parade will start marching at 11:00am led by the Underground Horns.

Berry Spooky Halloween in Williamsburg, 10:00am to 2:00pm

The 5th Annual Berry Spooky Halloween on South 5th and Berry Streets in Williamsburg returns. Celebrate Halloween with your neighbors with music, dancing, a costume contest, prizes and pumpkin giveaways. The kids costume contest begins at 1:00pm.

Hoot and Howloween at Prospect Park, 10:00am to 1:00pm

Participate in fun activities and experiments that will make your spine tingle at Propect Park Alliance Natureween!

Owl Pellet Dissection, 10:00am - 1:00pm

Pick apart owl pellets, masses of undigested parts of food that owl species occasionally regurgitate!

Mask and Finger Puppet Workshop, 10:00am - 1:00pm

Explore under logs, leaves and branches and you may come eye to eye with an unexpected. Search for Prospect Park’s critters that are often overlooked!

Nature Chef’s Surprise! 11:00am - 12:00pm

Our nature chef has some tasty treats for you to try that are delicious, nutritious and crunchy! Take a nibble and earn a special certificate and boasting button. Learn how this mystery treat is a sustainable alternative protein source that has nutritional benefits.

Bug Explorations, 12:00pm - 1:00pm

Explore under logs, leaves and branches and you may come eye to eye with Prospect Park nature’s creepy insect residents!

Brooklyn Heights Association Halloween Parade, 11:00am

This year, the parade will begin at the entrance to the promenade at Clark Street. Parade-goers will walk along the promenade to the cul-de-sac on Remsen Street. 

Thursday, Oct. 31

Prospect Park South/Victorian Flatbush Halloween Parade, 5:00pm 

A hidden gem, this parade attracts hundreds of families onto Albermarle and Argyle Roads in Prospect Park South. Don't forget to check out some of the large mansions on the parade route, which are famous for going all out with spooky, creepy decorations that will blow your mind. 

Park Slope Halloween Parade, 5:00pm to 7:00pm

Join one of Brooklyn's largest parades on Halloweeen night. The annual Park Slope Civic Council's Halloween Parade begins at 14th Street and 7th Avenue and will end in J.J. Byrne Playground at the Old Stone House. 

Myrtle Monster Mash in Clinton Hill, 4:00pm to 6:00pm

The spooktacular Monster Mash is at the Myrtle Avenue Plaza. There will be live music, DJs, a Thriller dance performance...and a dance battle! 

BAMboo!, 4:00pm to 7:00pm

It's an afternoon of candy giveaways, carnival games, arts and crafts, trick-or-treat popcorn and kid-friendly short films at BAM. 

Halloween Fun in Bensonhurst, 2:00pm to 4:00pm

Council Member Zhuang invites trick-or-treaters to attend a Halloween Party at her district office located at 6514 20th Ave. Come celebrate Halloween with free candy, pumpkins and face painting.
