East New York native Maxwell will play a Valentine's Day concert at Barclays Center on Sunday, February 14, 2016, his first show in New York City in five years.
Nas, also from Brooklyn, will join Maxwell for the show, as well as U.K.-based Emeli Sandé will appear as a special guest.
Tickets to the show will go on sale on Friday, December 18, at 10:00am, and can be purchased online by visiting www.barclayscenter.com or www.ticketmaster.com, or by calling 800-745-3000. Tickets are also available at the American Express Box Office at Barclays Center beginning Saturday, December 19 at noon (if tickets are still available).
The February 14 show is Maxwell's first New York City concert since 2010, a show that The New York Times called "a surefooted, playfully intelligent, supremely satisfying show." The February date will be the GRAMMY-winning singer's first U.S. concert since 2014's Summer Soulstice Tour.
The concert comes just weeks before the 20th anniversary of his genre-defining first album Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite. His most recent album, the platinum-selling BLACKsummers'night, was released in 2009, debuted at #1 and earned him a pair of GRAMMYs. Maxwell is putting the final touches on the second album in his trilogy, blackSUMMERS'night, planned for release in 2016.
