The Dominicans Love Haitians Movement will host its second annual Nou Akoma Nou Sinèrji (We Heart We Synergy), a Haitian-Dominican Transnational Film Festival, between Oct. 9 - 12 at St. Francis College in Downtown Brooklyn.

The festival aims to advance solidarity and awareness between the Haitian and Dominican communities, in their home countries and throughout the diaspora, according to a press release.

The festival will feature a diverse range of films and art that reflect the rich experiences and histories of industry professionals of Haitian, Dominican and African descent.

The program includes dramatic, documentary, experimental and short films, as well as podcasts, visual art exhibitions, panel discussions, and booths for Haitian and Dominican vendors.

The Dominicans Love Haitians Movement continues to confront ongoing persecution and violence faced by both communities, rooted in genocide, exclusionary legislation and anti-Blackness.

Through the festival and other initiatives, the movement strives to foster not only artistic expression but also meaningful dialogue and action.

This year’s lineup includes films such as Mountains, Parsley, Boca Chica, Sugar Cane Malice, The Forgotten Occupation, and Bitter Cane.

Tickets for the festival can be purchased here
