Artist-run nonprofit, the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (BWAC), is putting the spotlight on Coney Island with the third instalment in their series highlighting the iconic Brooklyn landmark. Starting Saturday, July 13, visitors can view The Art of Coney Island 3 at the Red Hook gallery space.
The latest edition of BWAC’s popular series, The Art of Coney Island 3, is a juried show inspired by the popular neighborhood. Coney Island 3 celebrates all the attractions of the boardwalk, including the sideshow, the Cyclone, mermaid paraders and Nathan’s hot dogs. Highlights of the show include sideshow banners painted by Coney Island royalty Marie Roberts and 3-D dioramas created by Luis "Inca" Ramos and Erin Mathewson.
The show sprawls across two floors of the expansive 25,000 sq. ft. BWAC gallery, featuring photographs, paintings and sculptures from more than 90 artists.
The opening day for The Art of Coney Island 3 is Saturday, July 13, 2024, and the works will remain on display through Sunday, August 11. The gallery is open on weekends from 1 to 6 p.m. in the historic Beard and Robinson Warehouse Stores at 481 Van Brunt St. in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
