BRIC JazzFest has unveiled its initial lineup for the highly anticipated 2023 season. This year's lineup will bring together jazz world legends, rising stars and emerging artists at the BRIC House in Downtown Brooklyn.
Brooklyn jazz artist Melanie Charles is acting as the guest artist-curator for this year's festival.
"This one-of-a-kind opportunity to curate this year's BRIC JazzFest has given me the privilege to shine light on both known and unknown artists," said Charles in a press release.
Charles will bring her unique vision and experience to the festival's programming.
“Some of the most pivotal musicians are not only great technicians but are great connectors as well,” said Charles. “Mindful and intentional programming is integral to the experience of both the audience and performers, allowing the art to play its role in our society."
Charles will be performing with the Orrin Evans Duo on Thursday, Oct. 19.
The headliners of this year's festival will be Georgia Anne Muldrow and Terrace Martin.
Soul, hip-hop, and avant-garde jazz artist Georgia Anne Muldrow is known for her Grammy-nominated 2018 album Overload and independent record label SomeOthaShip.
Terrace Martin is a three-time GRAMMY-nominated artist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He is known for his production and collaborations with artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, Stevie Wonder and Snoop Dogg. These groundbreaking contemporary jazz artists are set to deliver unforgettable performances.
Joining the headliners will be Isaiah Collier, the Amina Claudine Myers Trio, B. Cool-Aid, BIGYUKI, Miki Yamanaka and George Burton. This eclectic lineup promises an unforgettable journey through the diverse landscapes of jazz and its evolving influences.
