Ditch the fancy attire! Brooklyn's got a great casual lineup for New Year's Eve and Jan. 1, including a comedy show, reggae and a Hungarian crepe brunch.

There's always plenty to do in the city that never sleeps and New Year's Eve and Jan. 1, 2025, in Brooklyn is no different!

Here's a small sample of what you can do to commemorate, or forget, 2024. 

New Year's Eve Celebration at Grand Army Plaza

Dec. 31; 10:00pm to 12:30am

In light of the unprecedented drought conditions and recent fire, for the first time this year, this 44-year tradition will pivot from fireworks to a light show celebration. The event will include live entertainment by Quintessential Playlist starting at 10:00pm. A festive light show display will begin at midnight in the skies, featuring beloved iconography including the Brooklyn Bridge, the Big Apple, the Statue of Liberty and more.

Steel Pulse at Brooklyn Bowl

With Special Guest Brother Jerome

Dec. 31; Doors open at 6:30pm; Show starts at 8:30pm; 61 Wythe Ave. 

Steel Pulse, a roots reggae band from the U.K., continues to be revolutionary in engaging controversial topics of racial injustice and human rights on a global scale. Their musical stance and conceptualizations are as potent and relevant today as they were at the beginning of their career!

Vinyl Nights Rockin' Eve at Somethin' Else

Dec. 31; 8:00pm to 1:00am; Somethin' Else inside Dekalb Market Hall; 445 Albee Square West.

Get down to the sounds with Vinyl Nights - celebrating, NYC dance, music, club and DJ culture. Experience what it was like to party in NYC in the early 70s, 80s and 90s when DJ's played strictly vinyl. Tunes by DJ Misbehaviour, Money Mike & Raw Q. Party hosted by Rebecca Lynn. Free with RSVP.

Comedy And Boardgames at Tiny Cupboard

Dec. 31; Stand-up comedy starts at 8:00pm. Board game night runs from 9:00pm to about 2:00am; 10 Cooper St.

The lineup for the New Year's Eve show at the Crown Heights comedy joint so far is Nick Viagas, Eion Falance and Sarah Adelman. After laughs, play board games until the new year begins!

Hungarian Pancake Brunch at Agi's House of Palacsinta

Jan. 1, 2025; 10:30am to 4:30pm; 818 Franklin Ave.
