Baby & Me is a program in Brownsville sponsored by SCO Family of Services that brings new mothers and their young children together for free playgroups.
But it's not just any regular playgroup; Baby & Me is structured so that both the parent and the child learn essential communication and relationship skills that will most positively guide their development and growth.
The program is for children age 0 - 4. Each group meets weekly at a set time for 8-12 weeks at the Morris Koppelman Early Childhood Center, located at 774 Saratoga Avenue (corner of Livonia Ave), with the goal of forming a healthy bond between parent and child while also building connections among families to build a supportive network that will continue within their own community.
Parents learn new games and songs to play with their children; ask questions and share stories on the highs and lows of parenting and strategies for getting through the rough patches. But most importantly, parents with their children learn how to best love, interact with each other and have fun!
SCO Family of Services also offers for new parents: Baby's Got the Beat (a music and movement meetup); a Mother-to-Be Support Group; a New Baby Mixer (for babies ages 0-12 months); a Breastfeeding Support Group; and Workshops and Field Trips.
