On Thursday, January 22, at 9:15am on the steps of City Hall, New York City Council Member Laurie A. Cumbo, joined by elected officials and women’s rights advocates will lead a rally in commemoration of the 42nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade.
Cumbo, chair of the Committee on Women’s Issues, is marking the monumental Supreme Court ruling that legalized abortion within the United States and in response to recent attempts to restrict reproductive rights.
Council Member Cumbo will introduce a pre-considered resolution, in collaboration with Council Members Elizabeth Crowley and Corey Johnson, to call upon the United States Congress to pass legislation that would restrict government interference in a woman’s right to quality healthcare and her right to choose.
Feminist legendary punk band BETTY will kick off the rally.
