If you, like many Brooklynites, are craving some vitamin D that doesn’t come from a tanning bed, a trip to the Sunshine State might be just what you need.

If you, like many Brooklynites, are craving some vitamin D that doesn’t come from a tanning bed, a trip to the Sunshine State might be just what you need.  With pristine beaches, world-class theme parks, and endless outdoor adventures, Florida is more than just a place where flip-flops are considered formal footwear. And while the Big Apple might sometimes feel like it has everything, there’s plenty to do in Florida that you won't find here in Brooklyn.

First, there's the weather. Four seasons? Forget about it. Florida has two: hot and hotter. No need to bring a coat; replace it with sunscreen, and you're good to go. Next, there’s peace and quiet. In Florida, you wake up to the sound of crashing waves and the song of tropical birds, not a cacophony of construction sounds and car horns. Best of all, while you're chilling out and soaking up the rays, there are online casino games to play if you know where to look. Techopedia’s Vlad Grindu highlights the most reliable online casino options available in Florida, which are best enjoyed while lounging on the beach.

Florida boasts some of the nation’s most iconic coastlines. Miami Berach, with its Art Deco architecture and vibrant nightlife, offers a completely different energy compared to the tranquil stretches of the Florida Keys. For a taste of the Caribbean without leaving the mainland, head to Key West, where you can explore colorful shops, indulge in fresh seafood, and enjoy the island vibes.

Of course, there’s more to Florida than sun, sand, and relaxation. There’s adventure to be found in the most unexpected of places. Take the Everglades for example. Fifty square feet of this vast wetland is home to more wildlife than 500 blocks of New York’s concrete jungle. And we’re not talking about pigeons and rats here. Florida is home to alligators, turtles, manatees, and even dolphins. Not to mention the dozens of varieties of tropical birds. The cool thing is you can see all of them while exploring the Everglades by airboat, kayak, or hiking trail. Beats the subway, right?

If animals aren’t your thing, maybe rockets are. In the big city, with all of the light pollution obscuring the night sky, it's easy to forget that stars exist at all. Remind yourself to visit Kennedy Space Center, which is a must-visit for any space enthusiast. Here, you can see the rockets that put the man on the moon up-close and in person. It's a mindblowing day out.

And let's not forget the theme parks, a Florida staple. The adventure parks on offer make Coney Island look like mall potatoes. Some obviously need no introduction. Everybody knows that Florida is home to the world’s most famous mouse and his several impressive parks. But there are some lesser-known gems to check out, too. For thrill-seekers, Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay offers exhilarating rollercoasters and encounters with exotic animals. For families, universal Orlando Resort provides immersive experiences based on beloved movies.

For foodies, Florida won't disappoint. Miami offers a vibrant culinary scene with influences from Latin America and the Caribbean. Key West is famous for its fresh seafood, while the Gulf Coast boasts delicious stone crab. And don't forget about the Cuban cuisine found throughout the state, with its rich flavors and hearty portions. Of course, if you're craving a taste of home, you'll find plenty of pizza and bagel shops, too.

As you can see, there’s a whole lot more going on in Florida than just old people and alligators. Whether you want to spend your vacation sun soaking and crypto betting on the beach, alligator spotting on the Everglades, or star gazing at Kenedy Space Centre, you're bound to have a blast.
