Federal prosecutors served a new round of grand jury subpoenas to New York City Mayor Eric Adams, City Hall and his election committee in July, according to the New York Times.

The three subpoenas seek an extensive range of materials, including text messages, other communications and documents, sources told the news outlet.

City Hall confirmed the multiple subpoenas to the Gothamist.

The subpoenas contain similar language and seek information in a number of areas, including travel by the mayor, his aides and others, as well as fund-raising, the article said. They appear likely to seek information related to some aides to the mayor and people who worked both in City Hall and on Mr. Adams’s 2021 campaign, the sources told the Times.

The paper said the full scope of the federal investigation remains unclear. It has, however, partly focused on whether the mayor and his campaign worked with the Turkish government to gain donations, and, at the same time, pressure the Fire Department to approve the permits for the Turkish consulate to be built in Manhattan despite safety concerns.

The mayor has repeatedly said he hasn't done anything wrong. The spokesmen for the U.S. attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York and the F.B.I., which are conducting the investigation, declined to comment to the paper.
