The New York City Department of Transportation on Nov. 27 announced the expansion of LockerNYC, a secure public delivery locker program, with several new locations across Brooklyn.

The initiative provides a free and convenient way for New Yorkers to send and receive packages while reducing delivery congestion and package theft during the busy holiday season, according to a press release.

Users will also have access to the full GoLocker network, the company whose lockers are being used in the pilot. At least 2.5 million packages are estimated to be delivered citywide daily during the holiday shopping season. The department said over 5,200 reservations have been made for secure package pick-up and drop-off since the program began.

"The LockerNYC program offers a safe and free way to send and receive packages during the holiday season. In addition to cutting down on package theft, centralized pick-up and drop-offs can also reduce the number of big delivery trucks on our streets," said NYC DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez.

Brooklyn residents now have access to a growing network of LockerNYC locations, including newly added sites in Prospect Heights at 500 St. Marks Ave. and Bedford-Stuyvesant at 241 Taaffe Pl. Existing lockers are located in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Canarsie, East Flatbush, Prospect-Lefferts Gardens and Bushwick.

In addition to the LockerNYC sites, Brooklynites can now access expanded GoLocker locations, including Natty Garden II on Marcus Garvey Boulevard, City Point Brooklyn Complex, Ft. Greene Food Market, Lavanderia Express on Graham Avenue and Franklin Express Laundry on Franklin Avenue.

Brooklyn residents can sign up for free through NYC DOT’s website and benefit from lockers that accommodate deliveries from multiple carriers, including UPS, DHL, and Pitney-Bowes. All lockers feature security cameras, LED lighting, and anti-theft mechanisms to ensure safety. Fore more information, click here.
