New York City firefighters could face disciplinary action after they booed state Attorney General Letitia James during a fire department ceremony in Brooklyn last week.

According to Associated Press, the firefighters also broke out in a pro-Trump chant during the address at the at the Christian Cultural Center.

Fire officials condemned the behavior in an internal note that made the rounds on social media, calling it grossly inappropriate and disrespectful to fellow firefighters and their supporters attending the special occasion. The department added that the event was not a political one.

It said James attended it to support Rev. Pamela Holmes during her swearing in as the department’s first Black female chaplain, the department added.

Councilwoman Joann Ariola, however, told Fox News the retribution against the firefighters, saying this would dismantle the department.

"There should be no retribution for this. This isn't the first time that booing happened. Mayor [Bill] de Blasio was booed by the police department on multiple occasions, and we all saw what happened to the police department during the de Blasio administration and how it was destroyed and dismantled. And we cannot let remnants from that administration do that to our firefighters," she said.
