Crime is down in Flatbush, but up in East Flatbush and Brooklyn as a whole.
There has been a 11.5% reduction in crime reported to Flatbush's 70th Precinct and a 27.6% increase reported to East Flatbush's 67th Precinct during the week May 3 to March 9 compared to the same period last year.
Across the two precincts, there have been 60 incidents reported, including one murder reported to the 67th Precinct, and reports of rape, felony assault, burglary, grand larceny and grand larceny auto to both precincts.
During the same period last year, there were 55 incidents reported across the two precincts, including 15 incidents of felony assault and 14 of grand larceny.
There have been six murders and 20 rapes reported this year in the neighborhood, compared with two murder and 24 rapes reported by the same date in 2020.
Looking at the 28-day cycle, there has been a 13% reduction in incident reports at the 70th Precinct and 15% increase at the 67th Precinct this year on last.
The most common incidents reported over the week-long period were felony assault and grand larceny, with 17 reports of felony assault and 14 of grand larceny.
On May 13, the 67th Precinct tweeted a photo of man wanted in connection with an attempted robbery and called on the public for help locating him.
On May 6, the 70th Precinct tweeted a photo of man wanted in connection with a burglary and called on the public for help locating him.
Across Brooklyn:
Across the borough, there have been 450 incidents reported between May 3 and May 9, according to NYPD's CompStat, including one murder in Brooklyn South and one murder in Brooklyn North. There were six reported rapes across Brooklyn, 62 robberies and 104 felony assaults.

This week, an NYPD officer was shot three times in Bed-Stuy after approaching a gun wielding man, minutes after a nearby fatal shooting and crash. The 28-year-old officer was struck in his bulletproof vest, as well as in his leg and buttocks, near Macon Street and Howard Avenue. The injured officer fired nine shots in return, and another officer fired a dozen rounds, striking the 26-year-old suspect in the leg. Both the officer and the suspect were treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
A 12-year-old Romy Vilsaint died in Brooklyn this week after complaining of head pain and allegedly being punched by bullies at school. Police responded to an apartment building on Cortelyou Road in Flatbush after someone called 911, authorities said. When the ambulance arrived Vilsaint was conscious and complained of pain in his head, but had no obvious signs of trauma, police said. He died at a hospital.
On Thursday, a man was struck by a van while crossing an East Flatbush intersection and left for dead, the NYPD said. The police have launched an investigation into the hit and run, that left a 49-year-old man dead after he was hit by a white van crossing Kings Highway and Ramsen Avenue. Authorities said the driver of that van did not remain at the scene and fled to parts unknown.
An off-duty EMT and her two sons are lucky to be alive after someone shot a barrage of bullets through the windshield of her car on May 11. The EMT said she heard six bullets hit, one which went into the driver's seat headrest, before gassing it around the corner. She said the shooting, which happened at a red light near Broadway and MacDougal St. around 5:00pm, was random and guessed it was a case of mistaken identity. Police said they are investigating it as a random shooting.
