New York City is hosting a series of 3-K and Pre-K resource fairs in neighborhoods with historically low early childhood education enrollment and the first event is in Brooklyn.
Join school administrators on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the Brooklyn Children's Museum, at 145 Brooklyn Ave., to discuss enrollment into early childhood programs.
Deputy Chancellor for Early Childhood Education Simone Hawkins and members of New York City Public Schools, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the Mayor's Public Engagement Unit, as well as community based organizations will be there to provide a range of resources.
Parents and legal caregivers will have the chance to enroll their children into programs during the event.
Despite the city's commitment to free and low-cost early childhood education, many families face barriers to enrollment, including lack of awareness, language access and digital literacy. The fairs will provide hands-on support, helping parents navigate the application process and explore school options for their children.
The application period to enroll in early childhood program ends on Feb. 28, 2025.
