State Sen. Persaud Announces Funding for Organizations Uplifting District 19

Senator Roxanne J. Persaud of the 19th New York State Senate District has awarded more than $500,000 in funding for organizations serving constituents in Brooklyn and Queens. Senator Persaud advocated for these funds in the SFY 2024-2025 budget which took effect in April of this year. 

“Each year, hundreds of organizations request funding to improve and expand their programs in Senate District 19,” said Senator Roxanne J. Persaud. “It is vitally important that I fund service providers that support older and medically vulnerable New Yorkers; organizations that keep our streets and public spaces safe; services that put New Yorkers of all ages on a path to self-sufficiency; and civil legal representation for those who cannot afford an attorney. I’m proud to make these local investments in our community.”

Organizations receiving funding include: 

Senior care

Bergen Basin Community Development Corporation and JCC Canarsie.

Safer communities

Center for Justice Innovation, East Flatbush Village, Elite Learners, KAVI, NYPD 69th Precinct Youth Violence Reduction Initiative and the NYPD 69th, 75th and 106th Precinct Community Councils.

Stronger communities

The Campaign Against Hunger, Common Threads, Community Healthcare Network, Emblem Health Foundation, Greater Bethel Community Development Corporation, NHS Brooklyn, New York Cares and Housing Solutions of New York.

Youth action and recreation

Fresh Air Fund, NYPD Youth Explorers Program, Excelsior New York and New York United Jewish Association.

Legal representation

Access Justice Brooklyn, Brooklyn Defenders, Brooklyn Legal Services, Center for the Women of New York and New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG).

Kindergarten through adult education

American Debate League, Brooklyn Public Library, Center for Employment Opportunities, Digital Girl Inc., The HOPE Program, Mouse Inc., Partnership with Children and Per Scholas, Inc.

Cultural programs
