Green-Wood Cemetery will host Nightfall: Time Flies, a unique nighttime event that is an immersive experience that blends music, storytelling and circus performances on Oct.17-18.
From 7:00pm to 10:00pm, attendees can witness the historic cemetery transform into an artistic playground illuminated by ambient light, according to a press release.
When visitors traverse Green Wood’s winding pathways, they will encounter musicians, storytellers, cinematic wonders and eclectic performances on dozens of stages.
The two-night event is a collaboration between creative partners, including Death of Classical and Rooftop Films. It will feature performances by the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus and storytelling by Morbid Anatomy.
“There’s something profoundly magical about Green Wood at night. The cemetery becomes a canvas for artistic expression, inviting visitors to reflect on the passage of time while being enveloped in the beauty of the evening. We are thrilled to welcome guests to two nights that will linger in their memories long after they leave," said Harry J. Weil, Green-Wood’s vice president of education and public programs.
Only guests 21 years and older can attend the event and are required to show their IDs for entry. Attendees are advised to wear appropriate footwear and bring flashlights as the event takes place in low-light conditions, and some performances involve navigating grassy hills and stairs. Due to the terrain, the event is not accessible to people living with disabilities.
Tickets are $80, with a discounted price of $75 for Green-Wood members. A rain date is scheduled for Saturday, Oct.19, from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Check-in begins at 6:30pm at the cemetery’s main entrance on Fifth Avenue and 25th Street.
