The City University of New York (CUNY) and JPMorganChase on Tuesday held a financial health summit at Medgar Evers College on the intersection of hip-hop and finance to educate the students about money management and wealth building.

The summit featured panel discussions led by Brooklyn-based business leaders and entrepreneurs including Gerard “HipHopGamer” Williams, a video game champion and Hot 97 radio personality, while JPMorganChase representatives joined Medgar Evers College classes to offer financial education on topics such as budgeting, saving and building credit, according to a press release.

The summit is part of an ongoing collaboration between Medgar Evers College and JPMorganChase, which launched a financial health partnership last year that aims to enhance students’ money management skills, improve credit building and prevent fraud. The two organizations have hosted a series of workshops for students, focusing on these goals.

“As a public university that provides transformational economic outcomes for its graduates, it’s essential that we equip our students with the financial knowledge they need," said CUNY Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez.

Medgar Evers College President Patricia Ramsey said the session was "transformational" and would benefit the students and underserved communities.

“Financial health education is a key component of community empowerment, and we are proud to partner with Medgar Evers College to share our expertise. We look forward to strengthening our partnership and furthering our support for Brooklyn, including through our new Community Center Branch just a mile from campus," said Nichol King, executive director for community and business development at JPMorganChase.
