Fostering Education, Arts, Sports & Trades (F.E.A.S.T.) is set to launch Build Our Blocks, a free, interactive urban planning and design workshop series taking place every Saturday in April at Jackie Robinson Playground in Crown Heights.
The four-week initiative aims to introduce Brooklyn residents -particularly youth and families -to urban planning, land use, and development through creative, hands-on activities, according to a press release.
The program is designed to educate, empower, and engage the community in shaping the future of their neighborhoods. Participants will work alongside architects, urban planners, elected officials, and city agencies to explore how cities are built and how residents can actively participate in decision-making processes.
Community organizations and experts include Ifeoma Ebo of Creative Urban Alchemy, Majora Carter of Urban Revitalization Strategist, Black Farmers United, NYU Wagner Professor Vanessa Deane and BlackSpace.
Attendees can expect interactive learning, community walkshops, creative visioning, guest speakers and panels and a graduation in which participants will present their projects to community leaders and receive certificates.
F.E.A.S.T. is seeking 25 committed participants to complete the full workshop series, culminating in a graduation ceremony where they will receive a diploma and prize package.
