Careers That Care Provides Scholarships for Aspiring Nursing Assistants

Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation will be hosting an intake session at the Cypress Hills ENY Community Center on Tuesday, August 20, for its Careers That Care program. Participants in the Careers That Care program are eligible for a full Certified Nursing Assistant scholarship at Kingsborough Community College, turning their compassion into a meaningful career.

Certified Nursing Assistants play a crucial role in healthcare, supporting Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Registered Nurses (RNs) by providing direct patient care. CNAs make a genuine impact by assisting patients with daily activities, from administering care to monitoring vital signs. This role is essential in delivering quality care and ensuring patients' well-being.

The Certified Nursing Assistant program is open to individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or H.S.E. (High School Equivalency)
  • Proof of vaccination
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Not currently enrolled in college
  • Passing a TABE Test
  • Availability from September 9 to November 4, Monday to Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Proficiency in English

Participants in the Careers That Care program will receive a comprehensive scholarship package that includes:

  • Full tuition at Kingsborough Community College ($1,155 value)
  • Textbooks ($93.75 value)
  • CNA Exam Fee ($115 value)
  • Uniform Scrubs ($35.00 value)
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Ongoing support throughout the program
