The second annual DVAM (Domestic Violence Awareness Month) skate meetup and fundraiser will take place on Sunday, Oct. 20 in Crown Heights.

Hosted by Melody Skates, in partnership with Tracy's Legacy, the event will take place from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at the Lincoln Terrace Concrete Courts (Eastern Pkwy, E. New York Ave. between Rochester Ave. and Portal St.), according to a press release.

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and the Brooklyn skate community will gather to support survivors and raise awareness about domestic violence.

“As the organizer of the 2nd Annual DVAM Skate Meetup & Fundraiser, I invite everyone to join us in raising awareness and supporting survivors of domestic violence," said Melody Olivera, the organizer. "This event is about more than just skating; it’s about community, connection, and compassion. Together, we can make a significant impact and show that no one has to face their struggles alone. Let’s roll for a cause and create a brighter future for all!”

Attendees can look forward to a fun-filled day of skating, community connection and giving back. There will be skate rentals available, a market with items for purchase and raffle prizes for donations over $50.

In addition to skating, the event will feature an art exhibition, live music, a stretching session, food and skate instruction. Skaters raised over $3,500 for two local organizations last year, according to the press release.
