The Brooklyn Music School is facing potential closure unless it can raise at least $80,000 by the end of the week, school officials told the Brooklyn Paper.

The famous music school, open for over 100 years, is fundraising and hosting a benefit concert at its Fort Greene location on June 26, the paper said.

Brian Adamczyk, executive director of Brooklyn Music School, told the Brooklyn Paper that city and state budget cuts, combined with inflation, put the institution in a financial bind.

The school has already canceled their June programs, including three weeks of private lessons and group classes, and furloughed key staff members, the paper reported.

Wednesday's benefit concert will feature special performances by Meshell Ndegeocello, Mark Kelley and Captain Kirk Douglas (the Roots), Peter Gunz, members of Living Colour, Gordon Chambers, DJ Logic and more, according to the school website.
