A historic Catholic church in Bedford Stuyvesant was torn down earlier this week, making way for a new housing
St. Lucy-St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church at 920 Kent Avenue was sold to Walkermark Capital Group through 295 Willoughby LLC for $9.25 million, Brownstoner reported.
The developers obtained one new-building permit application for a two-family four-story house expected to take up only a small fraction of the plot.
Although it is unclear what the developer's plan is for the rest of the site, Brownstoner reported that a building "three times bigger than the church" could be built.
The church was initially St. Patrick before it was joined with St. Lucy in the 20th century, bearing the name St. Lucy-St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church since.
