Coney Island’s beloved performing arts school moves to a larger space, continuing nearly two decades of community impact.

Art’s House Schools, a nonprofit performing arts school serving children in Coney Island, signed a lease for a new, expanded space at the base of 1515 Surf Ave., according to a press release.

The relocation from its original site at 1003 Surf Ave. marks a significant expansion for the school, which has been a cornerstone of the community since its founding in 2005, according to a press release.

The new 3,400-square-foot space is set to open later this month and will allow Art’s House Schools to continue offering music, dance, and fine art instruction to children aged 3-17.

"We are so excited to continue building our community in Coney Island with Art's House Schools' new location at 1515 Surf," said Executive Director and Founder of Art's House Schools Sophia Harrison. "For nearly two decades, we've provided cultural programming to children and senior citizens in Southern Brooklyn, and this new space allows us to grow our impact even further."

The performing arts school joins Milk & Honey, a Brooklyn-based cafe and restaurant, set to open in late spring.

“We designed 1515 Surf to create a vibrant, year-round residential community that embodies the spirit of Coney Island,” said Anthony Tortora, senior vice president and principal at LCOR, a development firm.
