Giving Tuesday -- the world's single largest day of giving -- is just around the corner, and Brooklyn is not playing games.
The borough is replete with community service orgs and on-the-ground non-profits that are a core part of what makes this place so special, and nothing has made that more evident than 2020. This year, during pandemic, protest, economic instability and shortages of essential items, it has often been Brooklyn's non-profits providing for and supporting residents, stepping up where no-one else was.
And now, this is the one time of the year those non-profits are asking the residents -- all residents -- to please give back!
Powered by Brooklyn Community Foundation, #BrooklynGives unites Brooklynites around the causes our communities care about, while helping vital nonprofit organizations connect to more donors across the borough.
The campaign, #BrooklynGives, goes until December 1 (the Tuesday after Thanksgiving) — coinciding with the global Giving Tuesday campaign. Last year's Giving Tuesday campaign raised over $800,000 in total from 2700 donors, to benefit nearly 100 participating organizations.
This year, in the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic and a growing national movement for racial justice, the mission of #BrooklynGives is more critical than ever before.
Launched in 2016 to drive awareness and support for grassroots, community-led nonprofits dedicated to racial justice, #BrooklynGives encourages Brooklynites everywhere to "Give Where You Live" on Giving Tuesday.
