Crime is down 8 percent for the week of October 27 — November 2, 2014, in the 81st Precinct, covering the eastern half of Bedford-Stuyvesant.
According to CompStat, there were 34 total reported incidents in the 81st Pct., compared to 37 incidents during this same week last year. For the 28-day cycle, the crime incidents are unchanged, with 126 reported incidents, compared to 126 incidents during this same time period in 2013.
And year to date, crime is up 8.7 percent, with 1,338reported incidents, compared to 1,231 during this same time period last year.
Year to date, there have been five reported murders, the same number at this same time last year.
The biggest percentage increase in crime so far is seen in the number of rapes— an 92 increase— with 25 reported assaults compared to 13 last year. And the biggest percentage drop is in the number of felony assaults— a 11 percent decrease— with 281 reported so far this year, compared to 315 last year.
Shootings:
On Saturday, October 31, at around 7:15pm, shots were fired in front of 214 Bainbridge street causing damage to a window in the vicinity. There were no injuries sustained. The 81 Precinct Detective Squad is investigating.
On, Monday November 3, at around 7:15pm, shots were fired at the north east corner of Utica Avenue and Fulton Street. A vehicle was struck at the location but no injuries were sustained. The 81st Precinct Detective Squad is investigating.
On Saturday November 8, at around 12:30pm, in front of 291 Hart Street a 35-year-old man was shot in the left buttocks. The victim's injuries were not life threatening and he was transported to King's County Hospital in stable condition. The 81st Precinct Detective Squad is investigating.
