As the summer is slowly coming to an end it is time to get the kids ready for school.
With the new school year approaching, NYC Health + Hospitals is hosting several Back-to-School Health Fairs at locations throughout the city in August and early September.
The fairs provide children with free health screenings and offer useful resources and workshops on subjects such as weight management, healthy nutrition and asthma education. The events also offer kids-friendly fun including games, face painting, activities and music, as well as healthy snacks and giveaways.
"Parents and guardians should help kids prepare for a great school year by making sure they are healthy, up to date on their immunizations, well rested and ready to learn," said Warren Seigel, MD, chairman of Pediatrics at NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island. "We know that healthy students are better learners, and a healthy school environment gives all students the best chance to learn and grow."

Families who cannot attend a fair nearby are still encouraged to prepare their children for academic readiness by scheduling appointments for physicals, immunizations, vision and hearing tests and other health services which can all be provided by NYC Health + Hospitals.
