All You Need to Know About Saturday's Brooklyn Half Marathon

Over 26,000 runners will participate in the 2024 RBC Brooklyn Half Marathon on May 18.

Over 26,000 runners will participate in the 2024 RBC Brooklyn Half Marathon on Saturday, May 18, with the race starting at the north end of Prospect Park and ending in Coney Island. 

There will be over 2,000 Brooklyn running club members joining the 13.1-mile race, according to New York Road Runners. Running clubs include: Team WRK, Goldfinger, Prospect Park Track Club, Spartan Sundays Run Club, South Brooklyn Running Club, Ocean Parkway Runners and Crown Heights Running Club. 

Here's all you need to know about road closures, subway stop closures, a boardwalk kids run and more: 

There will be a kids’ race on the Coney Island boardwalk for runners ages 2-18. There are various races, some for beginners, those in wheel chairs, and for competitive runners.

Brooklyn drivers beware: there are multiple street closures and parking restrictions, including on Eastern Parkway, near where the race begins. 

Eastern Parkway | From Grand Army Plaza to Bedford Ave

  • No Parking: (Eastbound) Thursday, May 16 from 6:00am - Saturday, May 18, 11:30am.
  • No Parking: (North Service Road) Friday, May 17 from 6:00am - Saturday, May 18, 11:30am.
  • Street Closure: Saturday, May 18 from 12:00am - 12:30pm.

Street Closures:

  • Washington Avenue between Eastern Parkway and Empire Boulevard
  • Empire Boulevard between Washington Avenue and Flatbush Avenue
  • Flatbush Avenue between Empire Boulevard and Grand Army Plaza
  • Grand Army Plaza (Entire Circle)
  • Ocean Avenue between Flatbush Avenue and Parkside Avenue 
  • Parkside Avenue between Ocean Avenue and Park Circle 
  • Ocean Parkway between Ocean Parkway Entrance Ramp and Surf Avenue 
  • Surf Avenue between Ocean Parkway and West 10th Street 
  • West 10th Street between Surf Avenue and Boardwalk 
  • Surf Avenue between West 10th Street and West 20th Street 
  • Stillwell Avenue between Surf Avenue and Boardwalk
  • West 12th Street between Surf Avenue and Boardwalk 
  • West 15th Street between Surf Avenue and Boardwalk

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority said there is no subway service at the Eastern Parkway-Brooklyn Museum station on the 2, 3 and 4 train lines between 4am and 9am on Saturday. 

To reach corrals AA-F from Manhattan, riders should take the Brooklyn-bound​​​ 2,3, 4 trains to Franklin Ave.

To reach corrals G-L from Manhattan, The MTA suggests taking the Brooklyn-bound 2,3 trains ​to Grand Army Plaza or the Coney Island-Stillwell Ave.-bound Q train ​to 7 Av.
