New York State has made the top 10 of GoFundMe's most generous states, the fundraising platform announced last week.
GoFundMe has released its 2023 Year in Help report, highlighting stories of resilience, the most generous communities and fundraising data. The report reveals over 94,000 fundraisers were started to support businesses and GoFundMe.org granted over $13.5M to individuals and nonprofits.
Multiple fundraisers across New York State raised more than $100K. Attacked Good Samaritan of NYC Subway Needs Help raised $101,286 from 1,100 donations for Gideon Moncrieffe's recovery.
Help the Victims of Hammer Attack at Sunset Park raised $220,499 from 3,000 donations to help the children of the Zhao and Liu families recover without worrying over financial burdens. Yu & Me Books Recovery Fund raised $368,881 from 6,800 donations to help Yu & Me Books reopen after a fire.
The report reveals the impact of more than 30 million people who gave or received help on GoFundMe this year. People started fundraisers for various causes, including paying off student loans, keeping businesses open, caring for animals and rebuilding after natural disasters.
