How do you take one of Brooklyn's most famous cheesecakes to make it even more fabulous? You fry it.
That's exactly what Junior's Restaurant & Bakery did Wednesday, as it introduced Junior's deep-fried cheesecake to customers.
"Everyone's a little fried these days. So we figured out cheesecake should be too," said Alan Rosen, Junior’s third generation owner.
The New York-style original cheesecake is dipped in egg whites, rolled in pulverized corn flakes and then dropped in a deep fryer until its golden brown.
The fried cheesecake can come with a variety of toppings, including chocolate chips, mini gingerbead men, graham cracker crumbles, rainbow sprinkles, crushed Oreos, whipped cream, strawberry, caramel and chocolate sauces, blueberry, cherry, pineapple pie toppings, crumbled Reese’s cups, rainbow marzipan cookies, Dutch Boy cookies and Black-and-White cookies.
"If this doesn’t make you smile and wolf it down—or at least take a nap—you’re doing dessert wrong,” Rosen said.
