‘A Very Brooklyn Fashion Show’ Spotlights Diversity

Brooklyn's creativity and multiculturalism took center stage at Industry City, where the Brooklyn Made Store hosted its second annual fashion show.

The Brooklyn Made Store held its second annual A Very Brooklyn Fashion Show on Tuesday, featuring 12 emerging and established designers showcasing work influenced by Haiti, Nigeria and Ukraine.

“This event is a testament to the vibrant and diverse fashion scene that thrives in our borough,” said Randy Peers, president of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, through a press release. “It not only highlights the incredible talent of our local designers but also solidifies Brooklyn’s standing as a global fashion hub. We are proud to support the creativity that makes Brooklyn special."

Sponsored by Porsche, International Security Services, GYMGUYZ and Empire State Bank, the show celebrated Brooklyn’s multiculturalism. It was curated by Rick Davy, Creative Director of Brooklyn Fashion Week, and Catherine Schuller, founder of Runway the Real Way.

Brooklyn has always been at the forefront of fashion innovation, Davy said.

"This show celebrates the borough’s rich cultural history and the designers who draw inspiration from it,” he added.

The evening concluded with a high-energy breakdancing performance by Eliseo "E-Motion" Mr. E, a local dancer and model known for his work in Step Up 3D and collaborations with artists such as Busta Rhymes and Nicki Minaj.
