Sinkhole Opens in Gravesend Following Water Leak

 A handful of private properties had their water cut in the process, according to the DEP.

A sinkhole opened up shortly after a water leak on a Gravesend Road, according to officials. The leak happened around 3:47am near Bay 37th Street and Cropsey Avenue, according to the FDNY. Then around 4:11am, the NYPD responded to a sinkhole in the road, police said. There were no injuries, according to the FDNY. However, a tow truck was needed to remove one vehicle from the collapsed roadway, according to a spokesperson for the Department of Environmental Protection.
