Repeat Sex Offender Arrested Outside BK Synagogue: U.S. Attorney

The repeat sex offender lives near an elementary school and is a former school bus driver.

A repeat sex offender accused of luring a teenager with gifts was arrested outside a Borough Park synagogue Wednesday evening, according to prosecutors. Joseph Grunwald, of Williamsburg, stands accused of molesting a 14-year-old between April and June 2023 in Monsey, New York — the latest of a slew of similar crimes committed by the 31-year-old man, according to a complaint filed by Breon Peace, the U.S. District Attorney for the Eastern District of New York. If convicted, Grunwald could face a minimum of 20 years, according to Peace. Because Grunwald lives near an elementary school and has worked as a school bus driver, Peace requested Grunwald's pretrial detention. Click here to read more on patch.com.
