A person in emotional distress, several bystanders and a police officer were shot at the Sutter Avenue L subway station in Brooklyn on Sunday. Two police officers were patrolling the subway line when they observed a suspect pass the gate without paying, police said. The officers approached the man for fare evasion, police said. The officers followed the suspect onto the train platform and repeatedly asked the suspect to stop, officials said.
