Cordero was awaiting transfer to another federal prison to serve out a 24-month sentence for violating the terms of his supervised release.

Staff at the jail performed “life-saving measures” and requested EMS medics, who took Cordero to an area hospital, where he died, the federal agency said in a press release Wednesday.
