Firefighters battled two Brooklyn fires almost simultaneously on Saturday afternoon. Just after 12:45pm on June 8, units responded to heavy smoke pouring out from the roof of a two-story attached dwelling near East 78th Street and Flatlands Avenue in Canarsie. More than 100 firefighters used five hose-lines to knock down the main body of the fire. No injuries were reported and the fire was place under control at 1:40pm. Then, another fire broke out less than a mile-and-a-half away, near East 53rd Street and Avenue D in East Flatbush. Click here to read more on brooklynpaper.com.
