Residents in Coney Island faced an unexpected disruption on West 28th Street when a significant sinkhole appeared, drawing attention and concern from the community. The sinkhole, which first appeared on Monday morning, forced local authorities to close off the street to drivers. Inside the sinkhole, there appears to be water gushing from what appears to be a ruptured pipe. Crews arrived on the scene shortly after 8:30am to assess the situation, but as of now, the area remains closed with caution tape and garbage cans placed for safety.
